Did you know?
The number of kindergarteners scoring below or well below grade level in literacy skills rose by nearly 10% during the pandemic.
The educational challenges of the past year have highlighted that foundational literacy skills are more important than ever. Schoolwide is here to help you continue to meet these challenges and support students in building the foundation they need to become strong readers, writers, and thinkers.
Focusing on K-2 students, we'll discuss online and in-person strategies for:
- balancing explicit teaching with opportunities to apply skills using authentic language when listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- providing opportunities for students to interactively practice newly learned skills.
- observing and/or administering individual qualitative and quantitative assessments.
- systematically developing proficiency in print concepts, phonics & word recognition, fluency, and phonological awareness.
We'll also give you a sneak peek of our newly released Kindergarten Foundational Skills Program, and show how it can help you employ some of these strategies.
